I was scrolling through Facebook this morning and stumbled upon the "on this day" memories section of my feed. It was a picture that I had posted seven years ago.
It's been SEVEN WHOLE YEARS since I created the Creeplies! These creatures(definitely inspired by some of Tim Burton's work) have been around a long time! I still make them to this day, though they have changed, if only slightly.
They might be one of the if not the oldest creatures I have created that still are a part of the Jaali's Dollies world.
I have often wanted to create a plush version of the Creeplie, but haven't really figured out the best way to go about it. Do I want them to be flat, or 3D? I lean more towards 3D because just look at those big globe heads. Flatness would take away one of the stunning features of these uh..dare I say creepy? Beings. Doing the eyes will be interesting if I go the 3D route. Depending on the fabric I could felt right onto it, but felting is always my easy way out because it's the most comfortable medium for me to work with. I have few other thoughts and ideas on how to go about making eyes but I guess the best thing to do is take the plunge and be prepared for a lot of trial and error.
Who knows, maybe a plush Creeplie will grace the shelves of Jaali's Dollies soon!
